About This Ministry

The Children's Liturgy of the Word extends an invitation for all children in kindergarten through second grade to leave the adult church community to hear the Liturgy of the Word at their level. This is a sacred ritual in which the children participate in the same order of the Mass as the adult community.

Who Can Serve

All adults registered in the parish are invited to serve as catechists. Youths of the parish are invited to participate as assistants to the adult catechists.

Responsibilities

Catechists accompany the children to the Liturgy Room after the opening prayers of the Mass and return at the Presentation of Gifts. They lead the children in the reading and discussion of the Gospel, recitation of the Little Creed to profess their faith, prayers of petition and closing prayers.

Youth Helpers assist the adult catechists to set up and ensure that all materials are put away and that the Children's Liturgy Room is left in good order.
