Religious Education Program

The Sacred Heart Religious Education Program is a continuing program from first through eighth grade. A Kindergarten program is also offered for ages four and five. Classes are held weekly from September to May on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm to 5:15pm for Grades K-6 and from 7:00pm to 8:15pm for Grades 7-8. At present there are over 700 students enrolled in the religious education program, also called CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine).

Children are instructed in the Catholic faith and are prepared to receive the Sacraments of First Penance, First Communion and Confirmation. Students in the second grade receive the Sacraments of First Penance and First Communion. This is a two-year preparation program consisting of first and second grade instruction. The seventh and eighth grade classes are preparatory for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Following Confirmation, students are encouraged to join our Youth Program to continue religious studies and activities.
